The Edinburgh Ministry began on 24 May 2023 when Elizabeth Howard-Campbell, 1st Duchess of Edinburgh was invited by King Edward IX to succeed Matthew Somerset, 1st Duke of Somerset as Prime Minister of Great Britain. The Edinburgh ministry was formed from the 26th Session of Parliament, as a Constitutionalist majority government. It was dissolved on 27 July 2023, when it was replaced by the Balloch Ministry.

Changes

  • The Earl of Stirling resigned as the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs following an incident "...after two instances of improper behaviour in a foreign capacity and a history of having done so in the past." [1]
  • Catherine Dunin returned to her former position as Minister of State for Citizenship after it was determined that "...she is too busy in real life to be Home Secretary...". [2]
