The British Constitutionalist Party, also known colloquially as the Constitutionalists or more rarely the Whigs, was one of the two main political parties in the Empire of Great Britain, along with the Liberal Democrats. The party is on the Centre of the political spectrum. The party held its conference every Midterm.
The British Constitutionalist Party was founded on 22 April 2023 from The Alliance Party. Under the leadership of Elizabeth Howard-Campbell, 1st Duchess of Edinburgh, it played a preeminent role in the politics of the Empire. On 7 May 2023, the Liberal Progressive Party merged into the party. After that, the Liberal Democrats emerged as the Constitutionalists' main rival.
On 10 July 2023, Howard-Campbell announced her intention to step down as Party Leader as she did not want to contest the premiership in the upcoming General Election. The next day, Cameron Romefeller, 1st Viscountess Balloch succeeded her, having defeated William Somerset in the leadership bid.
