The Great Offices of State are senior offices in the Government of the Empire of Great Britain. They are the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Secretary of State for the Home Office. They are not to be confused with the Great Officers of State, which correlates to positions in the Royal Household. Formerly, the Chancellor of the Exchequer was a Great Office of State before being abolished with the regional economy.
To date, only four individuals have served in all four positions: Prince Victor, Duke of York, Elizabeth Howard-Campbell, 1st Duchess of Edinburgh, William, Prince of Wales, and Josephine Somerset Carew, The Duchess of Bedford.
