Frederick Urquhart's tenure as Prime Minister of Great Britain began on the 1 May 2026, when he accepted an invitation by George VII to form a Government in his name, following the resignation of Philip Somerset, and ended on 6 May 2026, following the conclusion of the May 2026 General Election. Urquhart was the eleventh Prime Minister of George VII and the fourth to be appointed. Controversially recommended by his predecessor, Urquhart was required to undergo a confirmation in the House of Commons - with dissolution so close, Philip Somerset wished to highlight flaws with the amendments made to the Governance Act that allowed this.
Urquhart's tenure was one of the shortest in regional history, with the term One Day Ministry originating from the single day between his appointment and the dissolution of Parliament. A flamboyant figure well-known for political machinations, Urquhart said that he would not run for re-election or to the House of Commons, stating he had no wish to remain in active politics beyond the next election.
