Dr. Ruben William Orange (joined 6 November 2025) is a British politician, international statesman, and socialite who currently serves as Special Advisor to the Prime Minister and Chief Whip of the Unionist Party. Orange served as a representative of the Crown in multiple Commonwealth countries, specifically in the Pacific region. Over a career spanning more than four decades, Orange has held several prominent diplomatic and vice-regal positions within the Commonwealth, including Governor-General of Australia, Lieutenant Governor of Victoria, and Ambassador to both the United States of America and Egypt.

Career outside the Empire

Ruben joined NationStates on October 10, 2021. As he had themed his nation around communism, he initially joined The Communist Bloc. Following the acceptance of his citizenship application, he was fully integrated into the Brotherhood of Malice's subsidiary state. Though he was an active participant, he often stood out as a vocal critic of the region’s interregional policies. After his expulsion from the region, he moved on rather quickly and turned instead to more established Gameplay (NSGP) regions like Europeia and The East Pacific. As these regions did not particularly peak his interest, he instead decided to settle in The North Pacific. He drew a lot of attention from more established players in the region and the game in general because of his dedication, raw talent, outspokenness and activity. He's currently one of the most influential politicians in The North Pacific, serving as its Delegate and having had many successful terms in other executive offices. He also holds the rank of Silver in the so-called "Power20", which was a ranking of power players in NSGP started by NationStates Today that got discontinued in 2022, but is still continued informally in various social circles.

Early Career

Ruben began his turbulent political life in The Communist Bloc, where he became an active and visible figure across multiple branches of regional governance. Over time, he served in a wide range of governmental, military, and civic capacities, establishing himself as a versatile and dedicated public servant. His career was riddled with controversy due to his outspoken nature and assertive personality. His arguing tactics often taking down even the most influential government officials which contributed to regional titans like Ant and Iota actively working against him and his career.

Ruben held several positions within TCB’s legislature and executive government, including multiple terms as a Member of the Legislative Committee, where he contributed to the discussion and development of regional law. He later served as Deputy Minister of Domestic Affairs, World Assembly Affairs and Information. Beyond these central roles, Ruben volunteered in all ministries, those being Domestic Affairs, World Assembly Affairs, Information, Culture, and Foreign Affairs, supporting both policy work and public engagement initiatives. He also participated in auxiliary operations such as the Manual Recruitment Team, the Dispatch Vote Squad, and the World Assembly Vote Squad, all of which contributed to maintaining TCB’s organisational stability and regional presence. He was also active in the region’s armed forces, serving in the People’s Revolutionary Air Force, where he held the rank of Pilot Officer, and later held reservist status. Ruben's public service extended to the judiciary, where he served a term as a People’s Justice on the People’s Tribunal. His judicial career ended prematurely following an impeachment, though he remained engaged in regional affairs afterward. He also gained diplomatic experience as Ambassador from The Communist Bloc to The Leftist Assembly, a posting he held for some time before being stood down.

Ruben received multiple honours in The Communist Bloc for his distinguished service in government, media, and recruitment. He was awarded the Order of Merit for his notable contributions to civilian and political life, and twice received the Order of Growth in recognition of his efforts to assist newcomers and strengthen community engagement. For his achievements in regional journalism and communication, particularly through TCB Radio and the Red Standard, he was named a Hero of Liberty, one of the Bloc’s highest civilian distinctions. His military participation in the People’s Revolutionary Air Force earned him the Order of Military Service (2nd and 3rd Class). Ruben's commitment to recruitment and regional expansion was reflected in a series of medals, including Hero of Recruitment (4th Class) and the Order of Recruitment (1st through 4th Class), all awarded for his extensive manual recruitment efforts.

In addition to his work within The Communist Bloc, Ruben maintained citizenship or affiliation in several other regions, including The Leftist Assembly, the Osiris Fraternal Order, and the Brotherhood of Malice, reflecting his integration into the cult of personality around people like Koth, Ant and Iota. Luckily he later broke free from this and now stands as a beacon of Independence.

Though the precise chronology of his many positions is unclear, Ruben’s early career is characterised by energetic participation and an enduring commitment to public service across multiple spheres of governance. His wide-ranging experience would later form the foundation for his statesmanship in other regions, where he became known for his fiery personality, ruthlessness, and relentless ambition.

Intermezzo

After leaving The Communist Bloc, Ruben moved to The East Pacific, one of the oldest regions in NationStates, known at the time for it's less serious tone, which reflected how TCB worked. He quickly integrated into the community and became an active participant in both its political and media institutions.

In The East Pacific, Ruben served as a Magister in the regional legislature and held multiple executive roles, including Deputy Minister of News and Executive Producer of The East Pacific Radio, where he coordinated the production of broadcasts and interviews. Beyond these leadership roles, he contributed as an Executive Staffer in the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Regional Affairs, World Assembly Affairs, Hospitality, and News, reflecting his versatility and enthusiasm for public service. His time in The East Pacific marked a period of growth and professionalisation, sharpening his skills in governance, communication, and diplomacy. Ruben later joined Europeia, a region widely respected for its structured government, political culture, and focus on merit-based administration. There, he became a citizen and worked across several ministries, serving on the Foreign Affairs, Communications, Radio, and World Assembly staffs. He was also a Member of the Watch, a body responsible for informing the Foreign Affairs leadership on what is going on in the world.

Although his tenures in both The East Pacific and Europeia were relatively brief, they were instrumental in shaping his later career. The experience he gained across these regions, spanning legislative affairs, media production, and foreign relations, laid the groundwork for his rise to prominence in The North Pacific, where his influence would become firmly established.
