The Royal Court of Justice is the judicial authority of the Empire of Great Britian and responsible for jurisdiction over all laws of Great Britain and hold responsibility for overseeing all criminal and civil proceedings. The bench is filled by the Lord Chief Justice and an additional three Judges, one of whom is appointed by the Lord Chief Justice to serve as Master of the Rolls.
Originally two bodies, as the Royal Courts of Justice, the High Court of Justice and Court of Appeal was merged to form one body capable of having the jurisdiction of first instance and appeals. The Royal Court of Justice replaced the Supreme Court on 25 January 2023.
