The November 2024 General Election was held on the 13th November 2024, following the resignation of the Prime Minister, August Carew-Grey, The Baron Calder. It resulted in an achieved majority for the Conservative & Unionist Coalition, led by Leader of the Conservative Party and former PM and monarch, Matthew Somerset, The Duke of Somerset.
It is the first election to see the defeat of two Party Leaders: Charles Wright and Anastasia Hamilton. It is also the first time a sitting PM, wishing to be re-elected as such, has lost their seat: it's the second time a sitting PM has been defeated at a General Election in recent memory, with The Baron Calder (then the Earl of Stirling) losing his seat at the November 2023 General Election.
It is widely considered one of the greatest upset victories in recent politics, with pre-election polls and predictions handing a majority to the Rose and Sickle Coalition (a joint coalition between the BWP and the Labour Party), but ultimately both party leaders were not returned to the Commons. It also marked a rare outcome of three parties all ultimately recieving the same number of seats in the Commons. The Duke of Somerset, and his Conservative Party, defied the Thirteen Keys Prediction and took an overall coalition majority, secured with support from the Unionist Party.
