The Earl of Strathmore is a title in the Peerage of Great Britain. The seat of the Earldom is Abbeyleix House in Abbeyleix, County Laois, Ireland. The current holder is August Carew, 2nd Earl of Strathmore. The title was created on 10 November 2024 by Charles III with special remainder to Josephine Carew "in recognition of her lifetime of service to The Crown, Government, and Parliament." [1] The special remainder was later removed on 16 February 2025 by George VII in recognition "of the good works performed by Lady Strathmore". [2] On 25 May 2025, the Viscount Clare succeeded to the title. [3]
