Augustus Edward Xeres Thomas Carew, 2nd Earl of Strathmore (joined 4 June 2022), is a statesman, parliamentarian, and Unionist politician who is most well known for serving as both the 26th and 32nd Prime Minister of Great Britain, as the longest-serving Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and in a variety of senior parliamentary and political positions. Currently, he serves as a Member of Parliament for County Clare.

Joining the region in 2022 as the result of a regional merger, the then August Stuart-Windsor recieved the peerage of the Earldom of Stirling and joined the political fray, first joining the Democratic Unionist Party in the Summer of 2022. He remained an active member of the party, ultimately becoming Party Leader in August, but he failed to win the upcoming election and resigned soon after, also eventually leaving the party. Soon after, he had much more electoral success, becoming a member of the British Royalist Party (BRP) and serving in the 21st Session of Parliament as an MP for West Stirlingshire. While failing to be re-elected for the 22nd Session, by the time he returned to Parliament, he was known as August Lleyton, and served as the Member of Parliament for the Scottish constituency of Stirling, the namesake of his peerage. Having served in a variety of positions in BRP Governments, such as Foreign Secretary and First Secretary of State, he assumed the party leadership as it rebranded into the Liberal Progressive Party. He secured a majority at the April 2023 General Election but failed the confirmation known as the Address-in-Reply, the first and to date, only Prime Minister-Designate to have done so. He remained an MP however, and continued in high office in both the Unity Cabinet and then the subsequent governments of the British Constitutionalist Party, the formation of a merger between the Liberal Progressive Party and the Alliance Party. Lleyton once again served as Foreign Secretary and First Secretary of State in the Edinburgh Ministry, though a percieved foreign affairs gaffe meant he resigned from the former not long into the term.

Lleyton left the BCP soon after, forming The Independent Slate with William Somerset, which soon morphed into the Heron Party. Following an acclaimed election, Lleyton secured a Parliamentary majority during the 28th Session of Parliament and this time passed the Address-in-Reply, becoming the 26th Prime Minister of Great Britain, and the first Heron PM. Despite overseeing the beginnings of a resurgence from the Summer slump of 2023, Lleyton's term was looked upon unfavourably, and he was voted out of Parliament in the following session, having already decded not to contest the Premiership. He would return once more for the 30th Session of Parliament in January 2024, but resigned a month into the term, ultimately leaving the region soon after. During this period he had also served as Chief of the Air Staff.

Upon his return to the region in May 2024, he was adopted as August Carew-Grey, son of Thomas Carew, The Viscount Sidmouth and Josephine Carew-Grey, 1st Baroness Wilton. He was restored to the peerage but at his request, only to the rank of Baron, becoming Baron Calder. He returned to Parliament during a May By-Election, this time as the MP for County Clare in Ireland, and served in minor positions in his fathers' Government, firstly as Chief Secretary to the Treasury and then as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Home Office. He then served as First Secretary of State and Air Secretary under the succeeding Premiership, led by his mother, before, upon her resignation, becoming Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary once more (the latter he served in for 2 Premierships in all, under the Duke of Warwick and the Viscount Sidmouth). Upon his mother taking a prolonged hiatus, and the death of his elder brother, August inherited the Barony of Wilton, meaning Carew-Grey has the right to be styled as The Baron Calder and Wilton. In October 2024 he won his second acclaimed election, and as the Leader of the Unionist Party, was appointed as the 32nd Prime Minister, his second stint. He resigned a month later. He served as Foreign Secretary in the Third Somerset Ministry and Second Sidmouth Ministry. Forecast to lead the Heron & Unionist Coalition to victory at the January 2025 General Election, and to finally become Parent of the House of Commons, he shockingly lost his seat and instead supported his political ally, William Somerset's bid for the Premiership. He would serve in a variety of roles following this: Downing Street Chief of Staff, a further two stints as Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and as Deputy Prime Minister. During this time, he would also be honoured with the title of The Viscount Clare, and soon after, once again inherit his mothers title and become The Earl of Strathmore.

During the Dorchester Premiership, his resignation as Foreign Secretary coincided with a general understanding that he was to mostly retire from public life, though he has continued to serve as a Member of Parliament, and in a variety of Government roles.

Carew is the eldest living son of Thomas Carew, The Marquess of Dorchester and Josephine Somerset Carew, The Duchess of Bedford. He was the younger brother of the late Owain Carew, Lord Sidmouth, and is the elder brother of Albus Carew, Baron Coleridge. He is the current heir apparent to the titles of both his parents.

Carew mainly resides at Abbeyleix House in County Laois, Ireland. He also owns several properties in London for his use while working in Whitehall and at Westminster, and formerly, the Cottage at The Chanters House is also his informal residence when at the Knightstone Estate in Devon.
